A Special Birthday

Mary, a very inspirational artist friend recently celebrated a special birthday. Carrie organised for a number of people to make contributions to a journal for her. This was my contribution.

As Mary has been such an inspiration to me, particularly encouraging me to try new techniques and 'play' with paints I wanted to try something new. The result was this 6" x 8" canvas, on which I played with gesso to texture the background, enhancing the texture with various paints, before adding the 3 dimensional elements to the project.

This is breathtaking Audrey - there is such an energy in the background colours and yet they don't detract from the detail. Beautiful!
